URGENT UPDATE: APPEAL HEARING ON PROP 2 CASE SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 13, 2012 AT THE 9TH CIRCUIT IN SAN FRANCISCO: THOUSANDS NEEDED AT COURT TO DEMONSTRATE MASS SUPPORT FOR AFFIRMATIVE ACTION!

In February 2010, March at UC-Berkeley to increase underrepresented minority student enrollmentUEAALDF filed a federal lawsuit, Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action v. Brown, to overturn California’s ban on affirmative action, Proposition 209, for violating the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The defendants are Governor Jerry Brown and University of California President Mark Yudof, and intervening-defendants Ward Connerly and the American Civil Rights Foundation.

The case is now before the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco.
